I was very concerned about joining the ACG community in the middle of year 11 since I had to make drastic changes to adapt to the CIE curriculum since I was doing NCEA Level 1 at my previous school. However, I was able to make a smooth transition thanks to my teachers providing me with excellent materials and provided me with extra tutorials/workshops for me to attend to get extra help. The teachers also spent more time focusing on students individually since the classes were small compared to other school. So the teachers could really look after a student whether it was regarding their school life or even sometimes their personal life. (It really helped me mentally when I had to work really hard to get used to the better/more advanced curriculum CIE)
However, the main reason I was able to fit into this new community for me was how friendly everyone was amongst the students. I felt really welcomed by the student leaders and students in my class. They would often help me get the right resources and get me the right help when I needed them.
I would suggest all the parents to do more research before you send your kids here. Teachers come and go in ACG Tauranga. My daughter had three different maths teachers in one year and every teachers had totally different ways to teach. She had found it very difficult to adapt the change for learning. Many students use their mobile phone and device to chat with friends during class time. Their team leader told me that is normal.
If you are international student. I would suggest you to find other school with good reputation as ACG Tauranga does not provide pastoral care for the international students and families. If you would like a school agent, you will need to get ACG international admission to process that. They would not do anything but keep reminding you to pay school fees for the next year.

It's interesting that all the negative reviews came around the same time, almost like someone had an agenda. The school has been an incredibly positive experience for my children, and the teachers have been very proactive in their support, identifying potential issues and implementing sensible and helpful pathways where in other schools the children would simply have been lost in the mix.
Excellent School

My children have been to schools here in Tauranga and other cities and they thrive at ACG TGA!
Highly Recommend
This is the 7th year at ACG Tauranga for our family. Our current Principal has grown the school with a sense of community, pride, and her passion for exceptional teaching and education based on values of kindness and inclusiveness. This has been especially evident over the past 3 years with the pandemic - the online learning has been outstanding and our family has felt throughly supported by all of the the dedicated teachers at this school.
If you are looking for a learning environment which values excellence, strong reciprocal relationships, and experienced, dedicated staff who go the extra mile, ACG Tauranga is the place for your family!
Interesting that the close dates and similar subject matter of several negative reviews appear to be referring to the same situation. I suspect this is one parent who did not like how their child was managed. I have always found ACG Tauranga and its staff to be very ethical and supportive of their students.
Do not send your child to this school. The senior leadership team is only concerned about the ACG Tauranga name, they do not look after the welfare of their students.

ACG Tauranga is a school that never fails to go above and beyond in not only the provision of education but of pastoral care as well. I have never felt like just another number but rather like an individual that the teachers knew. I moved to this school for its incredible education system, Cambridge which I think is far superior to NCEA, but I have stayed because of how supportive the teachers are.
