This school is like the deceased spiders droppings in the music room.

If you are reading this because your considering sending your child, please continue. This school was bad. I hated it. Starting off, the school's learning premises are absolutely third class. The so called "science lab" is an old classroom with paper posters and no proper equipment. The only thing this school cares about is teaching kids Te Reo and Te Reo Songs. Some of the teachers are incredibly racist, this one teachers talks to immigrants or people of colour like they are dogs. They have no ethnic awareness and don't respect other cultures. My Y8 teacher was new to the school and told me I was stupid many times, and constantly favoured a boy. She complained that our school was weird and her previous school was better, repeatedly implying she disliked us. In year five, a girl told my teacher I was manipulating her and he immediately took her side, keep in mind she called me slurs . The kids here are horrible, there is a hierarchy in every single year group. There were 'popular kids" and 'ugly kids" in Year 2. We were 5. The learning spaces are outdated by five trillion years. We have these massive pods that have 79 students we have to do everything together and are forced to sit away from other genders in these weird arrangements and sit on the mat for 45 minutes listening to a teacher ramble on about their amazing experience with their cousins sisters exes mothers dogs boyfriends brothers ex husbands grandmas great great nephews sisters best friend enemy's dads cousin sisters teachers great aunts cousins nieces favourite mountain. I couldn't give less of a flying fly. Not to mention kids discussing their fav vape flavour and how drunk they got yesterday. Their is constant bullies and our subjects look like they came out of a teachers diarrhoea. Like what do you mean we are learning about not Direct messaging someone because its going to hurt their fragile feelings. In addition to that the teachers abuse the kids, dragging them by the ears. Not to mention that we have a custom curriculum where we learn how to spell though in year 8. wow. In math we learn about 4 digit addition. 13 year olds doing addition... The intermediate were promised a proper learning space, modern class rooms, a new playground, and a proper lab. 10 years prior ago we were promised a new senior playground, we even had a competition to see who could build the best 3D model for the new design. Guess what? It never happened, they constantly have to replace planks of wood because they are rotting, and some even snapped while kids were using the playground. Its been 5 years since they claimed we would get new learning areas, no building no new flashy lab, just a brown patch of poo, otherwise known as a big patch of dead grass that has been neglected for so long, that mother earth decided it was time to reclaim her stolen property. Also our lockdown drills feels more like a quick power nap on the floor in year 1 more than a safety measure. We lie in the centre of a room surrounded by windows, great I just love the fact that the drunk criminal will see us on showcase and be like '' ohhh the students are on the floor this makes them automatically invisible to my peanut brain. One time we got a major bomb threat. They made us lie down and not utter a word. like the bombs not gonna come looking for us and walk over and be like oh yippee I just have to wait for the children to finish their power nap and then I can explode them children. This school is the reason why kids IQ is lowering. Walking in feels like you owe the building an apology for disturbing its 135 year retirement. It looks like it was built in 30bc. Also, we are expected to pay $60 dollars for stationary, we are only allowed to keep 10% of it, the rest? I never used it, the teachers probably run their own discount temu stationary store with the rest of the supplies I never received. In this economy, I would rather pay 10 dollars on temu instead of $60 where half the money goes towards the teachers daily dose of overpriced coffee allowance. If effort was visible, that school would be under construction. Save your child's soul from being sucked out by the schools Voldemort like, absolutely horrendous stupendous, horrific, ghastly, traumatising, hideous, the ancient gum stuck under our 90 year old tables, and all the teachers crusty butt crack of a school.

I feel like the school is very low when it comes to students being rude and shows no "disapline this is very sad beacuase the spelling barely teaches students and I don't even learn anything in most of the subjects please take your kid somewhere else when they can go to a "primeary" school

dont send your child here

doesn't do anything with science, even in the intermediate years. sets up your child to fail in high school if they don't have a big interest or learn it at all. also abusive, mean, rude, traumatising teachers.

Average to low school

Staff are bias, raysyct, and jujmentel to pupils, on an educational level this affects students of other ethnicities. This school barely tutors, especially spelling, as a student, look at how I spelt “raysyct” or “jujmentel” , this school apparently is a decile 9 school, but i don’t see how it could accive that, if they really want to accive that title Ellerslie got to step up their game.

Poor teaching and learning structure

As a student who started in year 1 and left at year 8. This school was very poor in education. The implementation of the "Pod" system only furthered the lack of proper education in its students. Teachers now have to handle more kids then they can handle. The classrooms felt like a community while the Pods dont. This left me being constantly distracted in class due to the lack of discipline for certain students or me not learning anything due to the teachers needing to yell at misbehaving students 99% of the time. I went into year 9 in college with barely any knowledge about maths or science as Ellerslie school barely teaches these subjects well. I couldn't even understand the basic foundations of these subjects as I was never taught about it. I implore parents to please take their children to another primary school that can provide better education.
