Horrible school
The college is corrupt with its punishment system.
Creepy Teachers, Bad hospitality and Racist school.

I don't recommend taking your kids to Matamata College, My son always complained that one of the Physical Education teacher Mr. Hills would come into the boys changing room often whilst boys were getting changed and have a look around, often making an excuse to have a perv. He always felt uncomfortable around him, he said that he would see him have a look at the boys swimming and try get very close to them, very very close!!!!!.
The students there are decent, some drugs and vaping go on but not too much to be concerned about. The classes are run down and leak when it rains too much, the toilets never have soap or toilet paper and the creepy teacher just get worse and worse. The only redeeming thing about that school would probably be the Engineering teacher and the Math Department, which I've met and my son enjoys going to their classes. The sport opportunities are shit, my son played rugby in 2022 - 2024 and he said that they focus only on rugby and volleyball, and don't give a rats ass about the others.
The school is quite racist I noticed, just talking to the teachers and noticing how they purvey the school, they don't like the dark/indigenous kids which is disappointing. Overall pretty crap school, its a pity that they have such shit teachers, considering the positive atmosphere that Matamata has. Take your kids to Putaruru or Morrinsville, they will enjoy it more :)

School is pretty good. Teachers slay. Students are a bit wonky, always some year 9s in the boy’s toilets vaping, but that’s just how it goes in Matamata.
