horrible shitty school, it’s the student that make it horrible. honestly they have eye problems for everyone at everything. bullying kids and so horribly racist as majority of the school is white and racist lil shits. teachers don’t do anything about bullying or racist comments to kids and only focus about the vaping problems in school or phone ban.
The school has some pretty cool stuff. Woodwork, Engineering, Agriculture, Kapahaka plus some pretty cool teachers. However the anti bullying game really has to stepped up as my little sister was bullied by a group of kids to. They even got their parents to start harassing me and my mother but the school refused to offer any help claiming it's not their problem then proceeded to claim they don't care and neither should I. Pretty ridiculous. Over half the students I can define as wanna be gangsters as they walk around claiming to be apart of Black Power or Mongrel mob; despite few students actually having ties to gangs.
The school has changed a lot since the rest of the reviews they now have a traditional moari carving class and teach moari as a subject and there are a lot of young teachers that have a lot of enthusiasm and they don’t give up on students. And the school is really good at trying to keep good student and teacher relationships. They have started removing aspestos and are renovating class rooms
I ended up switching from Rodney College to Ota and found it was the best decision of my life. It may not be the nicest looking school ever but 90% of the teachers are super helpful and amazing at what they do and I saw no bullying from years 9-13 while I was there and only heard of a few problems with the year 7-8s which was solved almost instantly.
I highly recommend this school to anyone considering.
Honestly, pretty racist. Our Māori students in the school get treated poorly and there’s not enough acceptance for Te Ao Māori in the school. Teachers give up on students a lot too. Classrooms aren’t well looked after, whole school isn’t really. Not a very comfortable or welcoming learning environment.
