I’m writing to address a matter of great concern in our school: Ms. Shinning Hao’s “unique” teaching style. As her student, I have come to realize that her method of "selective favoritism" is not just a rumor—it’s the reality we face every day. Ms. Hao seems to have a special fondness for only a few students, while the rest of us sit in the back, watching our chances of a quality education dwindle with each lesson. It has gotten to the point where I’m pretty sure even a school like Ōtara Primary would be a better choice for learning. Seriously, at least there we’d have a fair chance at asking questions and receiving answers!
In Ms. Hao’s class, if you’re not one of her favorites, good luck trying to participate. She barely lets us speak, much less actually learn. It’s like her teaching style is more about keeping us quiet than helping us succeed. Maybe this will change, or maybe we’ll all just transfer to Ōtara, where they actually focus on education.
NOTE: She also is Asian and an immigrant that can't speak much English, straight up racist. Don't recommend at all!!!!!
Amateur coaches and incompetent selectors for sports at the school, some have none or limited training. The students in teams blame others for their lack of skill and competence ,particularly in hockey ,coaches bit slack on score cards with players who score.
This school has an incredibly depressing environment and the students are all assholes and I understand why, even I felt myself becoming a worse version of myself while I was at this school. This school does not care about you, they only care about the best of the best and if you’re not they’ll leave you in the dust.
as a student who suffers from a lot of learning difficulty im impressed with how much they care about my education, you just gotta make it known that your below and they go out of their way to fix your problem, most kids are incredibly racist and ableist so i advise sticking with the art / theater kids they are cool asf
Great 🥵 except some racist white girls gets protected by deans when they’ve bullied the international students. Love all the art teachers🌹🌹and most eng teachers 👍👍
I currently go the school and am not happy. I myself so pretty good in school gaining mostly excellences and have been in their extension courses. I must say that there is a lot of favouritism involved with the school(e.g. I requested to get into biology and chemistry extension along with a good friend who is Asian. We were both trying for the same course by my friend was trying for physics too. Although we both had the grades my grades for biology and chemistry were slightly better than hers. It turned out, when we went to speak to the Head of science Department, my friend was accepted into all of them and I got into none and was just waitlisted.) This emphasises how the school uses favouritism, race and “judging a book by its cover” to favour certain students. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL FOR PEOPLE WHO TRY TO DO THE BEST THEY CAN; YOU WILL ONLY BE PISHED HARDER DEPENDING ON HOW THE TEACHERS PERCEIVE YOU AS A PERSON AND NOT BY YOUR ACADEMIC SUCCESS/PURSUITS!!!
do NOT send your children here. A lot of students are depressed because of this school. The students in the school are full of homophobic and racist people. The teachers are too cruel, however some of them are good academic wise. The deans of this school couldn't be more wrong when they said we are lucky to be in this school.
Rangitoto College has a history they should not be proud of from corporal punishment on a mass scale with various implements, teachers intimidating pupils, no compassion or understanding around supporting pupils. Teachers had no idea of how to promote pupils qualities. Violent fights broke out regularly with no intervention from teachers. One teacher kicked a desk into a pupils stomach.
I am fairly fortunate and have had a pretty good experience with the school so far. Acedemically I think the school does really well in preparing us and giving us the resources needed. However, a complaint I have is that sometimes it seems they don't actually make sure some teachers are qualified for the role. Don't get me wrong most teachers are brilliant, however, some may want to go teach primary or intermediate students.
This school has been really good academic wise and sports wise! Bringing your child to such a big school like this sets them up for social activities they may face in the future! It also gives your children more of a chance of making new and the right friends, yes, there may be some pricks at the school. But there are a few at every school no matter which school you go to so don't worry there. This is a good school filled with passionate teachers and I highly recommend sending your children here. As I have had a great experience with this school in the 4 years I have been at the college.
Pretty good. The school is massive and the teachers can be pricks and it can be daunting and make you feel alone at first but after a while it's OK. Go to a different school honestly
Academic wise i would recommend, But social wise i would not recommend. This school is filled with racists and homophobics, Take my word now, if your kid gets involved in alot of social activities DO NOT send them to Rangitoto
