Hi, I attended St. Peter Chanel’s back
in the 50’s and 60’s. Some of my highlights were the activities, jump rope
and playing marbles during break on the playground.
Father OSullivan was our Parish priest,
back then, a very kind and caring soul.
I made my First Holy Communion there.
I remember the days of watching the sheep and lambs in the paddock while eating lunch on the long bench behind the school. The church ladies made the
sandwiches back then, and we could order our lunch, and a big raisin bun.
The bottles of milk came in crates and
each child lined up in the hall to get a
bottle. In the winter the milk was poured in a big urn and the nuns made cocoa to
warm our bodies.... it was wonderful.
I have many lasting memories of those days.
